22’ x 14’ Black Walnut

There were two La Maja’s originally by Francisco Goya. During the Spanish Inquisition guards came and interviewed him about the two different versions. One was “nude” and caused some concern. It was thought that the “clothed” version should be shown alone. Inspired by the silence that was forced upon the works of Goya, Alberdi interpreted the nude version in this Black walnut piece.
